The most useful book to me is the story of mankind by HENDRIK VAN LOON. The reasons why I favor this book are as follows: it provides me not only the comprehensive knowledge about history, but also the angles from which a problem can be approached.
In addition, I learned a lot from the famous people in this book such as Magellan, Columbus. These navigators certainly deserve our admiration for the courage and the pluck with which they accomplished their hopeless task in face of difficulties of which the people of our own comfortable world can have no conception. Finally, my language ability has been enhanced by reading this book. So the most useful book for me is the story of mankind.
